Marisa, the first Latina lawyer in her Mexican American family, has had to overcome countless obstacles to her success. Where others would have quit, she found a way to persevere, succeed where others had written her off, and thrived in the worst of circumstances.
Educational Roots
Marisa began her schooling in Juarez, Mexico. When she began school in Texas, she could only read and write phonetically. She went from failing English to AP classes in 2 years. Little did she know this would be the beginning of her embracing the Power of Pivoting. After enjoying a career in politics, she embarked on her law school career. Attending the top law school in Texas – The University of Texas School of Law. As a practicing trial attorney, she is sought after in high exposure cases where millions of dollars are at stake.
Professional Prowess
Marisa tried her first case only five years out of law school. Her success resulted in her being included in Fortune Magazine’s, 50 Most Powerful Women, as one of the Women Leaders in the Law, in the 2014 and 2015 editions. She was selected to Texas Rising Stars 2015-2019 and a Texas Super lawyer 2019-2023. Due to her industry success, she is a frequent speaker at various legal organizations, associations, and conferences speaking on emerging areas and trends in Texas law.
